Our methods are having an impact. From improving test scores to achieving higher proficiency levels, the Charter School students offer living proof that their Charter School experience has yielded positive results.

This graph highlights an astounding average improvement in the Reading and Math sections of the TCAP by students after their first year at The Soulsville Charter School.
Upon entering 6th grade at the Charter School, nine students were performing at or below the 10th percentile on the Math section of the TCAP. A year later, these same students all improved, and 2/3 of them more than doubled their percentile rank.

This graph shows similar achievements for our initially lowest performing students in Reading. Again, the rates of improvement are noteworthy. In some cases, students achieve a 20-percentile rankings climb.

This graph shows the overall student proficiency levels for all of our students on the 2006 TCAP test. By the end of the 2006 school year, the vast majority of Charter School students were Proficient in all core subjects. The high levels of Advanced students in Math and Reading, accompanied by the low levels of Below Proficient students in those same subjects, suggest that the methods used at The Soulsville Charter School for building a foundation for learning are remarkably successful.
*Measurements used are the 2005 TCAP test (prior to beginning at The Soulsville Charter School) and last spring's 2006 TCAP test.
